Heya, I’m Kelton, your WEQ transgender and minority genders rep! I’m nonbinary (they/them pronouns), hail from the good ol’ north of England, and am a first year Biochemist – basically, I look at the proteins my body makes and wish it would make different ones instead.

My job is to provide support to any students who either don’t identify as cisgender, or are experiencing confusion regarding their gender identity, as well as raising awareness of trans-related issues and events. Having been through the name-and-gender-change stuff at Oxford in my first term, I want to make things as easy as possible for other people to do the same.

You can reach out to me for:

– Advice and support on legal matters (e.g. registering your name / title / gender change legally, outreach to gender clinics, etc.)

– Reporting and (attempted) changing policies or behaviours that you find trans-exclusive or transphobic

– Financial support for gender-related costs (through the Gender Expression Fund)

– Someone to talk to about gender stuff!

Gender stuff is confusing, but it can get a whole lot easier if you follow the right steps. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries or concerns!
